Personal herbaria donated to the Michigan State University Herbarium represent one historical component of the herbarium's collections.

Participating Groups (mostly taxon-based professional societies) play an important role in bringing together people involved with natural history collections across many disciplines. Involvement of professional groups is key to our success, and we appreciate the willingness of all the groups listed to help us make our community stronger. The Participating Groups listed below have appointed a member to the Core Participants of the RCN.
